Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actress in Canada and New Zealand for over a decade. She was born in Winnipeg and born in Wellington Paquin began her acting debut portraying Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11 and was the 2nd youngest recipient to win an award within Oscar history. Canadian actress, and New Zealander, who, as a kid won her first Academy Award in 1993 for the best support actress. Paquin moved to New Zealand from Canada as young girl, and then grew up in the country. When she responded to a request for auditions, she was able to audition when she was nine, and with little previous experience in acting, she won Flora McGrath's part. Flora was the daughter of the Scottish pianist, who was deaf. The couple moved to New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century in an effort to plan a wedding. As a teenager her family left Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin was the main character in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part as Jane Eyre in the film when she was just a young child. Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the television adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin was also in the role of Queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 film Amistad. She portrayed teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) as well as A Walk on the Moon (2000). The actress played groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
