April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is one of only a handful of women beach volleyball athletes to be able to do so. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. Ross will also be hoping for her very first Olympic medal. At 39, this could be her final chance to win an Olympic gold. Her confidence is high nevertheless. Ross on NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing very well, or even at all, it could be able to win gold. Also, I am going to rely on a bit of good luck. Ross was born August 22nd, 1982 in Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area together with her parents. In addition to participating in a variety of sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. In her final game she stood out. During her high school career she played middle blocker outside setter and hitter in the court for volleyball as per her bio at the college. To honor her achievements she was awarded the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. Additionally, in 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the Year for volleyball. Even though Ross Klineman and Ross have been doing their thing from 2017 onward, the former had already been a major participant on the beaches long before their pairing. In actual Ross has been a winner of several major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One of them is a legend. Between 2007 and 2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Kessy was Ross's partner on the 2009 World Championships. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary duo comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). As fate would have it Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. They both won bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college player with the Trojans of USC prior to starting her professional career. She played in high school, and even some years before she hit the beaches as a professional. Ross's time in the Trojans was impressive. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. She also helped the Trojans to make it to their first Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss during her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat her place as an All-American. Over the course of her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the top collegiate female volleyball player in the US by The Honda Sports Award. Ross was a student of International Relations at USC. Margie Ross didn't get to witness Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001 when Ross was in the midst of being a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. She continues to hold her lost parent near and close. Margie continues to be an inspiration on and off at the beach.
